Please support our beloved Em | 大好きなエム先生へのサポートのお願い

Updated: Sep 2, 2022

As most of you know, our beloved Em is in England with her family to receive treatment for cancer. So many of you have sent messages of support and asked how to help. It is truly a powerful community of love. Phil has started a crowd-funding campaign. Here is the link:

We would like to share with you a message from Phil, Em's husband.

This is Phil, Em’s husband, writing. Before giving an update, I just want to say on Em’s behalf that she has been touched and overwhelmed by all the lovely messages of support she has received. She doesn’t always have the energy to reply to all of them, but she does see them and read and is touched by each and every one.

Since going back to England, Em has had to spend a few days in hospital. But she is receiving excellent care from supportive nurses and doctors. She has had all the tests needed and a panel of doctors will be meeting to make a treatment plan for her later this week. I am back in Japan to look after our home and our cats. I’m not sure when I will get to see her again but we will video-chat every day.

Some of you may have already seen, but we have set up a fundraiser for Em while she’s having treatment, since she won’t be working. I know many Sun & Moon students have contributed, and other friends outside the studio have been very generous with their time and going out of their way to help in whatever way they can. The common response when thanking them is, “Em would do it for me.” And having been married to her for over 20 years, I can say without hesitation that it is absolutely true. During her time at Sun & Moon, she has always been generous with her time and helping students work through their issues, physical or otherwise. She has led numerous events to give the Sun & Moon community the chance to help others in need. She has led donation drives for earthquake and tsunami victims, animals in shelters, and victims of the conflict in Ukraine. But now this ever-generous spirit is the one who needs support. So if you are in a position to offer support, please consider doing it. If the roles were reversed, Em would do the same. She has proven that.
Thank you for your continuing help, support, and love.

We will hold Em in our thoughts as she goes through this journey. She is strong, she is a fighter, and now is the time for her to focus on healing. Em has given so much to our community; it is time to give back to her. Thank you very much.

(This is an ongoing fundraiser, you can support anytime.)
